A TRIBUTE TO DESIGN & CRAFTMANSHIP

To celebrate the launch of Heal’s newly extended flagship store on London’s Tottenham Court Road, Create Academy has partnered with the iconic furnishing brand to create ‘The Celebration Sessions’ - a curated programme of live creative workshops, demos and talks throughout 2023 that celebrate the joy of creativity and making.

Launching during Craft Week ‘23 with a series of inspiring craft workshops, featuring names including metalwork artist Jess Wheeler, zero-waste weaver Maria Sigma and dried floral artist Bex Partridge, and will be followed by further seasonal events celebrating key moments in the UK design calendar.

A preview of JamJar Edit’s first online Create Academy course - The Art of Pressing Flowers - you can experience an introduction to the art of flower pressing in this hands-on 1-hour workshop. Discover JamJar Edit’s methods for successfully pressing seasonal flowers and retaining their colour, and design your own brass framed floral artwork using pre-pressed garden flowers. Should you wish to pursue the art of flower pressing at home, presses will be available to purchase.

This workshop includes all required materials.

Complimentary drinks will also be on offer to toast the occasion.

A flavour of Arthur’s online Create Academy course - Grow A Spectacular Garden in Pots - this 1-hour talk, demo and Q&A session will be hosted by Times Luxx Garden Editor, Fiona McCarthy, who will be in conversation with Arthur discussing his passion for container gardening and his expert advice on how to grow successfully at home. Combining his love of growing cut flowers and foraging, Arthur will also create a live seasonal floral display with flowers hand-picked from home, which will be followed by a Q&A session with questions from the audience.

Inspired by Molly’s online Create Academy course - Master the Art of Block Printing - this 1.5hr live workshop will introduce you to the beauty of this ancient craft, showing you how to experiment with colour and pattern using carved floral wooden blocks. Motifs are taken from Molly’s latest collection ‘Bloom’ - bright, bold and beautiful, it is a collection both classic and playful in equal measure featuring dahlias, mughals, vases, chequers and wide stripes. You’ll learn how to create your own set of hand-printed stationery which you’ll then take away with you on the day, along with the skills to translate onto other items for gifting and for the home. 

This workshop includes all required materials.

SEPTEMBER

Design and sustainability will be the focus for September’s sessions, featuring talks with some of the world’s most in-demand interior designers, including Rita Konig, Edward Bulmer and Nina Campbell.
